Picture yourself and your closest mates drinking beers and getting personally driven from brewery to brewery to do so….. Dreaming right? Wrong! This is actually a thing.
We were recently lucky enough to jump on the Craft Beer Discovery Tour with the team at Mt Warning tours. Our leg of the tour was spent at the Red Earth Brewery, however the full tour (click here for the full details) also stops at Stone and Wood, The Pickled Pig and includes a traditional pub feed. What more could you ask for?
Gathered around a couple of tables, with our tasting paddles in hand – Brewery co-owner Richie explains a little bit about what brought the Red Earth team together and what their vision is when it comes to brewing approachable and unique beers. Like their Mango Ale – which actually contains nearly 30 litres of fresh mango pulp that are sourced directly from a 100 year old tree behind the brewery. “It’s a very refreshing beer with a subtle mango flavour, that intensifies as you get further down the tank.” It’s getting a bit of a cult following amongst those in the know. “We have some locals phone in to check where it’s at in the tank to try and get the end of the tank intensity of the mango flavour.”
We happily work our way through the beers which start with a 3% mid strength lager – and finish with the Fruit Tree Neipa at 6%, all discussing our favourites – which I might add, changed with every new beer we tasted!
This is just one stop of many at the fantastic Craft Beer Discovery Tour run by Mt Warning Tours. If you are a beer lover, or even just someone that is just keen to check out the area while being chauffeured with a brew at each stop then this tour is a must!
