They say “it’s the journey, not the destination” – well in this case it was definitely both! After a paddock lined scenic drive we arrived at the first destination of Mount Warning Tours, “Farm to Plate Tour” – Tweed Valley Whey. We were set to experience all things cheese!
Tweed Valley Whey is a small artisan dairy business, family owned and operated by Rob Harnett and his wife Suzanne, along with Rob’s sister, Susan Clarke and her husband Peter. As soon as Peter started talking, we realised how passionate they are about the farm to plate concept. He spoke highly of his mob (Cows, not family) and informed us of all the different elements that go into making the perfect cheese. It’s not long after that the cheese started flowing and we were excited! Peter spoke about each cheese and the process behind its development. We tasted 6 of their finest, and then headed to the tasting room for take home options.
While our tour ended there, the full Mount Warning Tour includes lunch at Flutterbies Cottage Cafe and ends at the amazing Husk Distillery for a rum/gin cellar door tasting!
