Continuing our love affair for food, we are so excited that Autumn has hit and it is time for all the local growers, producers and chefs to celebrate the thriving Tweed Coast food culture with a weekend of food events kicking off in delicious style from Friday 13th March.
From bakers to makers to creators, the Tweed is home to some of the finest in the business. Take a bush tucker walk and talk or a river cruise that begins in a bakery and ends in a distillery – the weekend is jam packed with the unique tastes of the Tweed.
The 3 day program begins on Friday 13th March with a backlot beer tour and tasting at the Stone & Wood brewery in Murwillumbah. Visit Cubby Bakehouse for a freshly laden baguette then cruise the Tweed river with Mount Warning Tours, destination Husk Distillery for a rum tasting and live music lawn session.
Discover the natural environment on Saturday with the ‘Fingal Walkabout Tour’ curated by elder Uncle Franc where you’ll learn about native bushfood and its medicinal value. Followed by a locally sourced long lunch at Sheoak Shack (a Fingal institution) then take a tour of the Sheoak Gallerys latest exhibition.
Get up close and personal with local growers and chefs at Carools renowned garden restaurant Potagers for a 4 course menu accompanied by local cheese and a glass of wine.
But wait there’s more! Sunday plays host to a ‘Death by Advocado’ garden picnic soiree at Tropical Fruit World or book an exclusive Ink Gin tasting and tour of Husk Distillery.
